Name of Pupil: Monna Lou Maldo, Online learner in China
It was the beginning of June and I was enrolled as a grade III student at Cebu International Distance Education College (CIDEC). At first, I was very, very nervous. I thought that online learning was embarrassing. But after a while I’m used to it and happy about it. I told my parents that I don’t like distance learning but then I realized distance learning is very nice. So I tried it. It went well. I have experienced many things by the computer and by my lessons. The first day had come. I was very lazy and trying to find out how things work. I introduced myself to my teachers and told them some things about me. Then during the conference, I was shivering and completely nervous but at the middle part, that’s a different story, I tried to on and off the microphone put it around my head and other things. My teachers taught me how to handle an online conference. I did as they told. I didn’t answer some of the activities though. My teachers told me that if you are ready for a conference, you should answer all of the activities and exercises.
After a year, I accomplished all my modules and requirements and later promoted to Grade IV. I know a lot of things by now. The lessons are going harder and harder but the good thing is, the lessons are repeated. But as I can say, it’s really going harder. I answered all the activities and exercises. In Math, some of the lessons are hard and some are easy. In English, I would say it is interesting and I could carry on. I love the stories and poems. Since I read many of them, I made some. In Filipino, it’s moderate. I can’t really understand Filipino well but since it’s our language, I will learn it. In Civics, I would say “nice” or “good”. I love reading things especially about our country. I like to read about the past of the Filipinos. How they look like. In Science, however, I tried my best on the exams. It’s very hard. Science is hard for me. Even if I tried my best, I still have a low grade in science but I’m going to get a medal in science someday.
I now realized that it doesn’t matter if others tease you about your studies as long you can finish them. I would like to continue home schooling till I reach high school. I wish every student or teacher who could read this a good luck on your school and jobs.
